Free Parent-Professional Workshop

Identification & Assessment Rights: Referral to RTI—Mysteries Revealed

This workshop provides an overview of state and federal special education referral and assessment rights with a special emphasis on referral procedures, the Student Study Team (SST) process, the response to intervention (RTI) guidelines for students with learning disabilities, and eligibility options for students with ADD/ADHD.

Joseph J. Feldman, Executive Director, Community Alliance for Special Education (CASE)

Joseph J. Feldman is the founder and Executive Director of the Community Alliance for Special Education (CASE). Mr. Feldman, a former special education teacher, is one of the leading special education advocates in the Bay Area and California. For over thirty years, Mr. Feldman has represented students in the special education process; consulted with the Bay Area special education community about systemic special education issues; and managed the development and day-to-day operations of CASE. At CASE trained advocates and attorneys assist parents at Individual Education Program (IEP) meetings, Mediation Conferences, and Due Process Hearings if necessary. CASE also provides free technical assistance consultation and training about special education rights and services to students, parents, educators and community professionals throughout California.
